6 seconds of light
This is the Marken lighthouse, given its name due to its shape (‘paard’ means ‘horse’ in dutch). The original was built in 1700, then reconstructed on top of the early foundations in 1839. It’s still in use today for the recreational watersports men and woman. Generated by electricity now, it gives 6 seconds of light, then 2 seconds in the dark.
