Tiny Light Helicopters

“MIT researchers are exploring whether a swarm of tiny helicopters outfitted with LEDs could self-organize into a massive flying display “screen.” The vision for the nascent Flyfire project is that each of the choppers acts as a pixel to form a dynamically-reconfigurable display.”

Night Lights

“In this installation YesYesNo teamed up with The Church, Inside Out Productions and Electric Canvas to turn the Auckland Ferry Building into an interactive playground. Our job was to create an installation that would go beyond merely projection on buildings and allow viewers to become performers, by taking their body movements and amplifying them 5 stories tall.

We used 3 different types of interaction – body interaction on the two stages, hand interaction above a light table, and phone interaction with the tracking of waving phones. There were 6 scenes, cycled every hour for the public.”

Meteor lights up sky in South Africa

CCTV: footage of a meteor spotted over the skies of Gauteng, South Africa on the 21st of November 2009

Local news story:
Johannesburg and Pretoria residents have come forward, claiming they spotted a meteor in the skies on Saturday night.

People in Gauteng saw the bright light at around 11pm on Saturday night, heading towards the north of Pretoria.

We saw this big green ball of fire. More..More..it kind of came out of the sky, out of the blue, one resident said.

There was sudden flash. Like an orange stripe in the sky, followed by a very bright explosion where the sky lit up as if it was daytime, another explained.

Astronomers and scientists are still trying to find out where the meteor landed.

Ronnie McKenzie collects meteorites and said something like this is very rare.
