Meteor Shower

Each year in August, a meteor shower could be observed. Its peak is on August 12 at over 1 meteor a minute. A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate from one point in the night sky. The summer meteor shower can be seen every night from 17 July to 24 August. This year it is particularly intense.

Sticky Light

Four students from the University of Tokyo have found a way to play Pong with a beam of light.
Sticky Light, a 3D tracking technology that lets you interact with a beam of light, batting it from one hand to another, is the work of Alvaro Cassinelli, Daito Manabe, Kuribara Yusaku and Stephane Perrin.
Once configured, the half-milliwatt spot of light can travel across vertical and horizontal surfaces, following paths in a printed maze or bounding off contoured objects, including human hands.
The technology could be used for games including a pinball and a “light-hockey” game in which players use their hands to bat the light, and scores will be displayed in real time.

LED Wall Interacting with Passers-by

Here’s a really cool installation done by Moment Factory in Montreal. The wall includes tracking devices and low-resolution LED displays and is capable of showing many different visualizations based on the presence and movement of people. The 35,000 LED bulb installation is now installed permanently at La Vitrine Culturelle and can be seen every evening from 7 to 11 (145, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, Montréal)
