Dem Ingeniör ist nichts zu schwör.
Aber auch ein Daniel Düsentrieb, der Erfinder in Entenhausen, benötigt ab und zu einen Gehilfen. Helferlein (engl. Little Helper) ist ein 11 cm Wesen aus Draht und Dichtungsringen, dessen Kopf eine hell leuchtende Glühbirne ist, die bei Bedarf ausgewechselt werden kann. Er ist eine entscheidende Motivationsquelle für Daniel Düsentrieb und rettet ihn und andere durch besonnene Reaktionen oftmals aus misslichen Lagen.
Helferlein wurde im September 1956 zum ersten Mal gezeichnet.
